'Tis spring, and a young man's fancy turns to thoughts of ... baseball, of course. Andy Williams sings about the "most wonderful time of the year," and for baseball fans like me, this is it. Especially after the Cardinals' run last fall. I don't know about you, but I will always be thankful that I had to drive home from Kahoka after covering a football game on that Thursday night last October. If I'd been home, I would have gone to bed about 9:30, and I would have missed the best part of Game 6 of the World Series. The biggest casualty of that drive home was the steering wheel on my truck -- it was pretty beaten up by the time David Freese hit that home run in extra innings.

As for this year, despite all the changes, the Cardinals will be just fine. Despite the departure of Tony and Mr. It's-all-about-the-money, the Redbirds will be at or near the top of the Central Division all season long. And, of course, you can hear all the Cardinal action all season long on News Talk 1070 KHMO. It all starts tonight in Miami with a 5:10 p.m. pregame.
