Thursday Grass Fires

Dry conditions mean some work for area fire departments..

Hannibal Rural firefighters say a lit cigarette butt apparently started a grass fire at midday Thursday near the old Oak Hill School building on Route T. New London firefighters were called out for mutual aid.

Ursa firefighters also battled a grass fire Thursday. Dry grass and windy conditions raise the chances of grass fires. Rain is in the forecast for this weekend.
