The Hannibal Arts Council Will Give Teens a Chance to Work Alongside Artists
The Hannibal Arts Council's annual UrbanINFLUENCE Art Camp for students between the ages of 13 and 17 will begin July 14. The art camp gives young artists an opportunity to work alongside professional artists that work in a variety of media.
“It’s always a challenge to keep kids engaged during the summer months. HAC sponsors programs for younger children every month, however we felt the need to offer an in-depth art experience for teenagers, and UrbanINFLUENCE was our opportunity,” says Michael Gaines, HAC Executive Director. “Mixing teenagers with area professional artists can play a role in sparking an interest in the arts and/or nurturing their creative spirit.”
UrbanINFLUENCE instructors for 2014 include Anornette "Tweety" Allison with Illustrated Writing (July 14), Mary Beth Baudendistel with Zen Tanlging (July 21), and Kim Caisse with jewelry making (July 28).
Students may attend any number of workshops they choose. The cost per workshop is $20, and a limited number of scholarships are available from the Hannibal Arts Council. Registration is required, and space is limited. Contact the Hannibal Arts Council by email, or call 573-221-6545 to register.
UrbanINFLUENCE art workshops will be held at the Willow Street Christian Church at 404 Willow Street.
