Temperatures Hit -15 in Parts of Missouri

As Missourians muddle through another frigid day Tuesday, the worst cold snap in nearly two decades is coming to an end — just in time for more snow.

Morning lows were brutal across the state — minus-15 degrees at Farmington and Osage Beach, minus-14 at Jefferson City, minus-13 at St. Charles and Rolla.

Many roads and highways remain partly or mostly snow-covered two days after the winter storm. Missouri Department of Transportation spokeswoman Shaunda White says the warming temperatures should help salt trucks and plows make progress.

Highs are mostly expected to reach the 20s on Tuesday, the 30s on Wednesday, the 40s into the weekend.

The bad news: An inch or two of snow is forecast for some of the state on Wednesday, perhaps mixed with freezing rain.
