The Evening Kiwanis Club of Hannibal hosted their second annual music trivia night at the American Legion hall on April 15. Funds raised from the ten-round, three-and-a-half hour marathon tour of pop music history benefited the Eugene Field Music Program.

And it was a blast!

Tucked away in the corner, the team at table 4 was comprised of a few of us from Townsquare Media. Fearing the threat of forced karaoke bestowed upon the losing team, we had to scrounge every bit of pop music knowledge we could. You do not want to hear us sing. You just don’t.

Categories included “food artists” (Meat Loaf, Bowling for Soup, Salt n’ Pepa), “number artists” (Three Dog Night, UB40, .38 Special), and “initial artists” (BTO, ELO, TLC). But the final hurdle was a 50-point battle combing movie theme songs with Hollywood trivia (fortunately, we had KICK-FM’s resident movie guru Brodie on our side).

The Townsquare team finished strong going 48 for 50 in the final round for an overall score of 166 out of 170 and a first place finish (36 points ahead of the two tied runners up)...oh, and they wanted me to point out that this was without mulligans. So, yeah. Solid run.

Special thanks to everybody involved in putting this fantastic event together. Bill, Harold, Brodie, Trisha, Gary, Wes, Mike, and I all had a great time! Already looking forward to next year!
