After a near perfect spring weekend, the week ahead is expected to be a rainy one in northeast Missouri and western Illinois.

National Weather Service forecasters say Monday will be a continuation of the weekend, with sunshine and highs approaching the mid 80s.

A chance of showers and thunderstorms moves into the area overnight Monday, with chances ranging from 40 to 60 percent Monday night through Saturday. The possibility of precip drops to 30 percent Saturday night and Sunday.

Despite the chance of rain, high temperatures will remain in the low to mid 80s throughout the week. Lows should hover in the mid to upper 60s.

The long range forecast for Memorial Day Monday calls for a 40 percent chance of rain and highs in the mid to upper 80s.
