A line of severe thunderstorms moved through northeast Missouri and western Illinois late Saturday and Sunday morning.

The twin Pikes were hardest hit, with Ameren reporting about a thousand customers without power in Pike County, Missouri due to storm activity early Sunday morning.

About 800 customers were without power in the Pleasant Hill area in Pike County, Illinois.

Also in Missouri, about 300 customers had storm related power outages in the Martinsburg and Mexico areas in Audrain County.

The area gets a break from the extreme heat to begin the week, with highs in the mid 80s, spiking in the mid 90s Wednesday before settling back into the mid 80s through the weekend.

There are also good chances of rain in the forecast Wednesday through Thursday night.
