Spring Football Today at Mizzou

Marcus Lucas 56 yard catch and run in traffic. Used his blockers well.  He'll be a junior next year. Decent accuracy from QB's Corbin Berksresser and Ashton Glaser. James Franklin isn't playing following shoulder surgery. He's expected to be ready in the fall.  Marcus Murphy gets the most improved running back award. Had some nice runs in the first half. Corbin Berkstresser is the most improved QB. I'm guessing he's #2 to Franklin at the moment.

Andrew Baggett hit a 47 yard field goal with one second left for Mizzou1.

I like what I see from the Tigers. Front 7 isn't bad even without two starting DL's due to injury. I'm wary of the DB's  but that's not unusual for me.  Both QB's threw the ball reasonably well.

1:40p End of the first Quarter Tiger2  27 Mizzou1

Mizzou1's score was 32 yard pass from Corbin Berkstresser to T.J. Moe. The drive also featured a 29 yard run by Marcus Murphy. Soph defensive lineman Lucas Vincent gets a sack. Ran through the LG and LT like they weren't there. Looks like he may be a solid contributor. The sun came out as the game started. Nice day here. Several thousand in the stands on the west side.

1:21 p-m. Just got a look at the new football uniforms. There ars significant changes. New look for the helmet. There is also an alternate gold jersey in addition to the black and white home and road uniforms. Men's basketball also gets a bit of a makeover.

On the field, Q B's Corbin Berkstresser and Ashton Glaser each showing nice accuracy. Glaser hit Jimmy Hunt for an 88 yard TD pass for the first score a couple minutes ago.

First half of the Black & Gold Game features the #1 offense and defense against all others. Reserves start with a 14-0 lead. Kickoff is at 1 p-m.  I'll be updating this post as the afternoon progresses.

Second half uses a special scoring system. For the defense, a safety is two points, forcing a turnover is five points, A turnover that results in a defensive TD is worth 12 points.  Scoring for the offense will be according to regular football rules.
Tigers are out for warmups in last season's uniforms with the QB's wearing gold jerseys. I understand that we'll get a look at the new uniforms at halftime.

Judging from the radar, it looks like the rain will hold off. Today's crowd doesn't seem as big as in recent years. The weather may be a factor.
