The long-unsolved killing of a southwest Missouri pageant winner will be featured on a new show on the television network Investigation Discovery.

The Springfield News-Leader reports that the death of 20-year-old Jackie Johns went unsolved for 25 years. The Nixa waitress and Sucker Day pageant winner was found dead in Lake Springfield in June 1985.

The crime wasn't solved until 2007, when DNA evidence linked Springfield businessman Gerald Carnahan to Johns. Carnahan is now serving life in prison at the Potosi Correctional Center in Mineral Point.

The killing will be featured in the pilot episode of a show titled "Beauty Queen Murders." The show is set to debut at 9 p.m. Tuesday.
