A southeastern Missouri man is jailed on $200,000 cash bond after being accused of killing his parents, whose bodies were later found in the Mississippi River.

KFVS-TV reports Scott County prosecutors charged 37-year-old Thomas McRoy with two counts each of first-degree murder and armed criminal action.

Miner Police Chief Chris Griggs says that after a St. Louis relative was unable to reach Larry and Roxann McRay, police went to the couple's Miner home Tuesday and spoke with Thomas McRoy. Griggs says he reported his parents had left with friends.

Authorities say Larry McRoy's body was found Tuesday in the river near Dorena. A day later, Roxann McRoy's body was found in the river nearby. The victims were from Miner.

Online court records don't show whether McRoy has an attorney.
