Police have charged a 33-year-old Franklin County man with first-degree murder in the death of his father.

The St. Louis-Post Dispatch reports that worried relatives found the body of 57-year-old William J. Osborn Thursday afternoon after forcing their way into his Lonedell home.

Franklin Sheriff Gary Toelke says William Paiton Osborn had a volatile relationship with his father and had sold one of the elder Osborn's guns in St. Clair after the killing.

He is also charged with armed criminal action for allegedly stealing his father's truck, a motorcycle and firearms.

Osborn was jailed with a cash-only bond of $100,000. Online court records don't list an attorney on his behalf.
