Smith Pleads Not Guilty to Sodomy Charges

A Hannibal man pleads not guilty to sodomy charges in Marion County Circuit Court Monday.

Eugene Smith entered the plea to the charge of felony statutory sodomy before Judge Rachel Bringer Shepherd.

The charge stems from an incident in September in which Smith is alleged to have molested a minor under the age of 14, who reported the incident to his mother.

Smith has a previous rape conviction in Shelby County, so he faces life in prison without parole if convicted of the sodomy charge.

Smith is scheduled to be back in court for a plea or trial setting December 18th.

He remains in the Marion County Jail on $100,000 cash only bond.
