The Peoria Rivermen Alumni Association recently partnered with St. Louis Blues alumni and Chicago Blackhawks alumni for an exhibition game to benefit victims of the November tornadoes that devastated several Illinois communities. SkateStrongHockey.com reports that $50,000 was raised during the January 15 event.

"I'm overwhelmed by the support from the community, players and especially the event sponsors," said organizer and former Blackhawks, Blues and Rivermen forward Denis Cyr.  "Due to the sponsor donations, 100% of the funds collected will go to the Salvation Army Tornado Relief Fund!"

The evening also included a silent auction, 50/50 drawing, and raffle.

"Peoria and the surrounding communities hold great memories for me. It's where my professional career started," said former Peoria Rivermen and St. Louis Blues defenseman Kelly Chase, who was one of several former players that attended the event. "The St. Louis Blues Alumni are excited to support the rebuilding efforts."

The Peoria Rivermen Alumni Association is still accepting donations from fans that were unable to attend the game. Checks payable to "Peoria Rivermen Alumni/Tornado Relief Fund" can be mailed to:
