Macon Police have released more details on an apparent hit-and-run incident just before 5:30 p.m. Monday.

According to Macon Police, a six-year-old girl ran into traffic as she tried to cross Highway 63 at its intersection with Elm Street in Macon.

An investigation indicates that the girl was struck by a tractor trailer, but that the driver was unaware he had struck the girl.
