A man arrested for a shooting on Hannibal’s south side was sentenced to 39 years in prison Friday.  A Press Release from Marion County Prosecuting Attorney David Clayton says 21 year-old Carl Emerson, Jr. was sentenced in Monroe County Circuit Court by Judge David Mobley.

Emerson was arrested in connection with the shooting of three teens at a home on Fulton Avenue in March of 2016. Authorities say he shot and wounded 18 year old Angelica Cadwell, 19 year old Phillip Egbert and 17 year old Benjamin Gillum.

After a jury trial in October, he was found guilty of assault in the 1st degree, armed criminal action and two counts of assault in the 2nd degree. Clayton estimates Carl Emerson will serve eighty-five percent of the 39-year sentence, which would be more than 30 years.
