‘Shine a Light on Autism’ Lighthouse Challenge Saturday [Interview]
One local organization observes April as Autism Awareness Month with a special event Saturday, April 12.
The group Shine a Light on Autism hosts its fourth annual Lighthouse Challenge at the Tom and Huck statue in downtown Hannibal Saturday. The group was formed to bring together parents and family members of children with autism to share resources and provide support.
The Lighthouse Challenge raises money to go toward the purchase of learning tools, such as tablets, that assist families with their autistic child.
The "challenge" is to raise money by doing as many laps up and down the 244 steps from the Tom and Huck statue to the lighthouse as possible.
The event also includes a kids carnival, which is sponsored by Hannibal Regional Medical Group.
