A line of severe thunderstorms with heavy rain moved through the area overnight.

Storms popped up in the Quincy area just after 9 p.m. Friday, dumping 2.3 inches of rain on Quincy in about an hour last night.

As a result, flash flood warnings for Adams and Marion counties were issued until 6 a.m. Saturday.

Quincy Police report a number of flooded streets and intersections Friday night.

There was a report of a car stuck in high water at 10th and Washington in Quincy, there was flooding on R.J. Peters Drive at South Park, and the intersection at 36th and State was closed for a time because of flash flooding.

Also, both Quincy football teams had their games suspended because of lightning. Both Quincy Notre Dame’s game with Hannibal and Quincy High’s contest with Edwardsville were suspended in the third quarter Friday night and will resume tonight.
