Seven Illinois Deaths Reported Following Snow, Cold
Authorities say at least seven deaths have been reported in Illinois following snow and bitter cold.
The Cook County Medical Examiner's office said Tuesday that 80-year-old Elias Contreras of Blue Island died of hypothermia.
A 64-year-old Christian County man was pronounced dead on Monday after his body was found in snow about a half mile from his Pana home. Sheriff's officials say his death likely was due to exposure and a medical condition
Will County coroner Patrick O'Neil says a 62-year-old and a 63-year-old, each from Joliet, died Sunday at Saint Joseph Medical Center.
Two men died after shoveling on Sunday, but officials say both — a 48-year-old Chicagoan and a 71-year-old Bloomington man — had heart problems.
Officials say a 57-year-old from Bolingbrook died Saturday at Adventist Bolingbrook Hospital.
