The Missouri State Highway Patrol announces the 2016 Memorial Day weekend traffic numbers.

Police report a statewide total of seven fatalities on Missouri highways over the weekend, one of which took place in northeast Missouri.

Of the six other traffic deaths, two each took place in the Lee’s Summit and Springfield areas, with one each in the Poplar Bluff area and the city of Springfield.

In northeast Missouri, 22 year old Robin Helm died Saturday in a crash in Knox County west of Edina.

Area troopers also investigated 29 traffic crashes over the weekend, resulting in 14 injuries. There was also one boating crash that resulted in one injury.

The Memorial Day weekend counting period ran from 6 p.m. Friday through 11:59 p.m. Monday.
