Illinois’ two U.S. Senators have expressed concerns about the most recent outbreak of Legionnaires’ Disease at the Illinois Veteran’s Home in Quincy.

In a letter to Governor Bruce Rauner, Senators Dick Durbin and Tammy Duckworth express “serious concern and disappointment over reports of two cases of Legionnaires’ Disease at the Illinois Veterans’ Home in Quincy.”

The Illinois Department of Veterans Affairs reported earlier this month that tests for Legionella came back positive on two residents at the home.

One of the residents died. Officials point out that resident had a complex medical issue in addition to Legionnaires’.

Durbin and Duckworth urged Rauner to initiate a thorough review of the water management and Legionella prevention plan at the home.

The letter states that this is the third year in a row that there have been reports of Legionnaires’ Disease at the Illinois Veterans’ Home.
