The search continued Monday for a Carthage man who jumped from a fishing boat that was headed for a spillway on Keokuk Lock and Dam 19 Friday afternoon.

Authorities have identified the missing fisherman as 31 year old Tyler Harris of Carthage.

Harris and another man, 31 year old James Son, also of Carthage, were fishing north of the dam Friday when their anchor failed and they were unable to start the boat’s motor.

While Harris jumped from the boat before it got to the dam, Son rode the boat through the spillway, and was rescued on the other side by personnel from the Keokuk Fire Department.

The boat was pulled out of the water at Alexandria, Missouri.

Rescuers from a number of different agencies have been looking for Harris during the daylight hours since Friday afternoon.
