Scott Co. Crash Claims Life of Winchester Teen

(Scott County, Ill)—A one-car rollover accident at 10:39 p.m. Tuesday leaves one teen dead and another injured.

The Illinois State Police report 18-year-old Taylor Shanks of Winchester was traveling eastbound on Scott County Road 725 North, 1.5 miles east of IL 106 when her car ran off the road and overturned several times.  Shanks was thrown from the vehicle and pronounced dead at the scene.

A 16-year-old  female passenger sustained serious injuries and was taken to Passavant Hospital in Jacksonville. The passenger told troopers the accident was a result of swerving to avoid a deer in the roadway.
