Missouri Gov. Jay Nixon says the rollout of the 2015 GMC Canyon and Chevrolet Colorado pickups marks another milestone in Missouri’s automotive comeback.

Nixon visited the General Motors Assembly Plant in Wentzville recently to celebrate the launch of the new mid-size trucks. The launch will create an estimated 750 new jobs when a third shift is added in Wentzville early next year.

According to the Governor’s press release, Ford and General Motors are investing a combined $1.5 billion and creating thousands of jobs to produce next-generation vehicles at their facilities in Claycomo and Wentzville.

A  report released by the Missouri Economic Research and Information Center says employment at Missouri automobile plants and suppliers will increase to nearly 14,000 by 2015 and result in the creation of more than 21,100 in-direct jobs all across the state.
