Ribbon cutting ceremonies are at 11 this morning for the newly built Wenneker Bridge in northwest Marion County.
Marion County Presiding Commissioner Lyndon Bode says the 193 thousand dollar bridge replace a narrow bridge built in 1925 that had a 13 ton weight limit. Bode says the new bridge is wide enough for two lanes of traffic and can handle most farm machinery. Over half of the cost is covered by money from Marion County’s 3/8ths cent sales tax with the rest coming from FEMA and Missouri’s State Emergency Management agency as reimbursement for the washout of a little used bridge elsewhere in the county in 2015.
