Marion County Commissioners cut the ribbon on the county’s newest bridge Monday.

According to Presiding Commissioner Lyndon Bode, the new Triplett Bridge on County Road 312 in the Taylor area replaces a bridge that had been built in 1950.

The contract for the new structure was awarded in May to Bleigh Construction for $189,000, and they were able to get the project completed ahead of schedule.

The bridge was paid for with county funds generated by the three-eighths cent sales tax for capital improvements.

The next bridge slated for replacement is on County Road 104 in the Nelsonville area.
