A new Mississippi River Bridge at Louisiana is included in a five year project plan approved by the Missouri Highway And Transportation Commission.

Illinois and Missouri are splitting costs on the bridge that will carry US 54 across the Mississippi. Some federal assistance will also help cover the cost. Much preliminary work is complete on the proposed span just south of the existing Champ Clark Bridge. Funding for work on the Bayview and Memorial Bridges at Quincy is also included in that five year plan. IDOT is currently working on the Memorial Bridge at Quincy. Also included in the plan is a new bridge for Missouri 168 over US 61 at Palmyra and resurfacing of McMasters Avenue in Hannibal.

. Northeast District Engineer Paula Gough says nearly 300 miles of resurfacing work and intersection improvements are planned in northeast Missouri. System preservation and safety are the focus of the upgrades over the next five years.
