Matt Markley of the Missouri Department of Conservation has some advice on handling various nuisance animals that may be finding their way into your back yard, garage or attic. The big things are limiting availability to food and understanding that these are wild, not domesticated animals. Markley says these types of animals are looking for an easy meal, and offers these tips when dealing with nuisance animals that may be coming around your home:

  • Don't put trash out unless it's in a secured trash can.
  • When feeding pets outside, only put out enough food that the pet can eat in a short period of time.
