Quincy schools officials say students in western Illinois will test new standardized state exams.

Julie Stratman is elementary education director for the Quincy School District. She said Monday that the testing trials will be in March and May. The students will be part of field testing the new assessments that The Quincy Herald-Whig reports will start across Illinois in the 2014-2015 school year.

The Illinois Standards Achievement Test won't be used after this academic year. Instead standardized testing will be offered through the Partnership for Assessment of Readiness for College and Careers. Quincy's school district is one of several across the state testing the new exams.
