Quincy Regional Airport falls short of its 2015 goal for the number of passengers traveling in and out of the facility.

Airport officials report a total of 9,047 passengers used the airport last year. When the airport reaches 10,000 passengers, it becomes eligible for $1-million dollars in federal money that can be used for infrastructure projects.

The city of Quincy will apply to the U.S. Department of Transportation for an extension, which would give the airport a year to reach its goal and qualify for the federal money.
