Quincy Police warn of a business scam.

Officer Kelly Vandermaiden says several businesses have received calls from someone impersonating a representative of Ameren Illinois. In these calls… a male asks to speak to the business owner and claims they are behind on payments to Ameren Illinois and that power will be shut off in two hours unless immediate payment is made. The caller then directs the intended victim to use a prepaid debit card to make immediate payment. Police remind you that any caller who asks for personal or banking information or an immediate payment with a prepaid debit card should be viewed with caution.
