Quincy Police Standoff With Subject Barricaded in Home Ends

Multiple media outlets, including WGEM and KHQA, are reporting that the standoff has ended. It is being reported that the suspect, 52-year-old Donald R. Pruett surrendered shortly before 11 a.m. KHQA says that Pruett will undergo a mental evaluation at Blessing Hospital.

(Quincy, Ill)--Quincy Police respond to 1718 Center Granview Monday afternoon, after reports a 52 year-old male subject barricaded himself in a room, stating he had a weapon.
Two detectives initially made contact with the subject at his home about 2:30 p.m. Monday, in regards to an Aggravated Criminal Sexual Abuse allegation. The subject let detectives inside, but then barricaded himself in a bedroom, allegedly making threats towards the detectives and indicating he was armed.
The situation brought the QPD Emergency Response Team to the scene , while one of the detectives, a trained hostage negotiator, continued negotiating for a peaceful surrender.
