Unions representing Quincy’s police and firefighters have announced their support for the challenger in the upcoming Quincy mayoral election.

In a press conference Tuesday, officials with Firefighters Local 63 and Policemen’s Benevolent and Protective Association Unit 12 endorsed independent candidate Jeff VanCamp in the April 4th election.

Union officials noted VanCamp’s emphasis on public safety and keeping lines of communication open as an alderman.

VanCamp is running against incumbent Republican Kyle Moore, who is completing his first term in office.
