Quincy Murder Suspect to Undergo Mental Fitness Evaluation
A Quincy man facing murder charges is scheduled to undergo a mental fitness exam.
The Quincy Herald-Whig reports a preliminary hearing was delayed Tuesday in Adams County Circuit Court for David Masterson at the request of Chief Public Defender Holly Henze. Psychologist Frank Froman will examine the 50-year-old defendant to determine his fitness to stand trial.
Masterson faces two counts of first-degree murder in the Dec. 13 death of Jason Tournear in a Quincy apartment. Police says Masterson beat Tourneau in the head with a metal pipe after an argument.
Masterson is being held in the Adams County Jail in lieu of $5 million bond.
