In Sunday's 'On the Street' column in the Quincy Herald-Whig, a column that yours truly quite often finds his name in, there was a picture of Quincy Mayor Kyle Moore. The adjacent article mentioned that the youthful looking Mayor was the recipient of some very kind words from the visiting Illinois Comptroller, Judy Baar Topinka, during a campaign stop at the Villa Katherine in Quincy last Tuesday. Topinka congratulated Moore on his winning the Mayoral election and then made a very interesting statement.

According to the quote in the Quincy Herald Whig, Topinka said, "Just watch him and watch his career. It's going to be great. Illinois will be a lot better because of Kyle Moore. You're probably going to have to share him somewhere along the line."

Ever since the Mayor won the office the rumor mills have had him reaching for something higher than the Mayoral level. Is the State Comptroller letting the cat out of the bag with her comment, or am I just reading too much into her remarks?

Politics is such an interesting profession, isn't it?
