Quincy firefighters respond to a residential fire at 648 Ohio at 1:23 a.m. Wednesday.

According to Fire Chief Joe Henning, crews arrived to find heavy fire on the first floor of the three-family home, with fire starting to show on the second floor.

Crews had to fight the fire from the outside until Ameren came to shut off the power, since electricity to the home had energized the aluminum siding on the structure.

Everyone got out of the house safely, but now three families are homeless.

Fire crews were still on the scene early this morning. An investigation is underway to determine the cause of the fire.
