Quincy Firefighters Battle Fire at 17th and Spring

Quincy firefighters are on the scene of a fire at the former Bernzen Lumber Yard at 17th and Spring.

FIre Chief Joe Henning says they went to a fourth alarm shortly before 8:30 p-m due to the temperatures and humidity. The fire is located in the northwest corner of the building where it is attached to a house. Henning says that multiple additions and layers of construction and dead spaces in the building are complicating firefighting efforts. Henning expects fire crews to be on the scene for several hours. Spring Street is closed just west of 18th. North 17th is closed off just north of Broadway due to firefighting efforts.
