(Quincy) - The Quincy City Council agreed to hire a Pittsfield contractor to complete the annual motor fuel tax pavement crack seal program.
Complete Asphalt Service Co. will receive $56,400 to clean and fill existing cracks for 120 city blocks, or 10 miles.
Aldermen approved the program Monday night by a 13-0 vote.
City Engineer Jeff Steinkamp was asked why there was only one bid for the project. He told the council that because the project uses motor fuel tax money, the city is not allowed to call contractors to solicit bids, so it can only consider those that are submitted.
