Quincy’s long time city treasurer announced her retirement Thursday.

59 year old Peggy Crim cites growing family obligations as her reason for stepping down.

Crim was first elected treasurer in 2001. She was unopposed when she was elected to a fourth term last April.

Since Crim is a Democrat, the Adams County Democratic Central Committee will recommend Crim’s replacement to the mayor and the city council.

Crim said she would be willing to stay in office a reasonable amount of time while a replacement is found.
