A downtown Quincy street project was put on hold Monday night.

The Quincy City Council voted to table the nearly $80,000 project that would fix the alley north of Broadway between 2nd and 3rd Streets. According to City Engineer Jeffrey Conte, several industrial businesses drive big trucks down that alley, which causes a lot of wear and tear. The council will revisit the project next week.

There was discussion of a resolution passed last week to hire two new police officers. Concern had been expressed over the wording of the resolution. Aldermen agreed to vote on a new resolution to hire new officers at next week’s meeting.

The council also approved event petitions for the Mutt Strutt and the Salvation Army Toy Run, and okayed the sale of alcohol at QU Stadium.
