Quincy City Council members approve an ordinance that increases taxes for businesses in the downtown area. The vote expands Quincy’s downtown special services area to include the entire area commonly known as The District. A 50-thousand dollar tax cap is also removed. The agreement covers two years. The assessed value rate for commercial properties in the downtown area increases from 21 cents to 35 cents per 100 dollars of assessed valuation.
