The Quincy City Council voted Monday night to pay an old bill from the Illinois Department of Transportation on a bridge project completed in 2011.

The bill for $252,000 came from IDOT in May, and came as the result of added expenses in the replacement of the bridge on North Fifth Street south of Highway 24.

The additional expenses had apparently never been brought to the council’s attention.

The council voted 11-2 to pay the bill from Motor Fuel Tax funds.

The council also voted to accept low bids for curb, gutter and sidewalk work along Hampshire and around Eighth and Jefferson, along with street work on Chestnut from 28th to 30th and Kenmore Terrace.
