A Quincy man faces animal cruelty charges following calls to Quincy Police Sunday morning.

Police arrived in the 5th and Chestnut area and contacted 19-year-old Devin Shoop who was walking his white pit bull in the area. The incident report says that during a conversation with the officer, Shoop kicked the dog in the mouth. The dog was confiscated from Shoop and he was issued a notice of violation for cruelty to animals.

The dog was turned over to the Quincy Animal Shelter.
