The Quincy Fire Department took to Facebook Tuesday afternoon to warn Quincyans of a potential scam in the area. According to the post, a company known as “Fire Safety Magnets” is claiming to be selling sponsorships with the provision that proceeds will benefit both the Quincy Fire Department and the Tri-Township Fire Department.

This is false.

“Neither fire department has authorized this and we have specifically asked that they not do this,” the post reads.

A quick Google search reveals that this company’s practice is not unique to Quincy. In fact, the Better Business Bureau has received a number of similar complaints from Chambers of Commerce and fire departments across the country.

If you (or your company) has purchased an advertisement or sponsorship from this company, please contact the Quincy Fire Department and let them know.
