The Hannibal Parks and Recreation Department will again this year host the Pumpkins in the Park pumpkin decorating contest in Nipper Park on Hannibal's riverfront. The contest will be October 27 from 3 - 5 p.m.

Mary Lynne Richards with Hannibal Parks and Recreation described the contest, "The pumpkins will be on display along the Pumpkin Path for everyone to see and vote on. Participants are being asked to bring pumpkins to Nipper Park from 2 - 3 p.m. From 3 - 5 p.m. the pumpkins will be on display along the Nipper Park walking path. The pumpkins will be judged by the spectators. Each person will be allowed vote once in each category. Pumpkins can be decorated with paint, glitter, markers, etc., but cannot be carved."

The three categories are: Scariest, Most Original and Traditional.

Richards says that in addition to winning prizes provided by SC Data Center, the pumpkins with the most votes will also go on display, "Winning pumpkins will be on display at City Hall for the following week."
