(PALMYRA)—Palmyra police say they’ve been getting calls complaining of an apparent phone scam.

Police Chief Eddie Bogue says the Palmyra residents were promised hundreds of thousands of dollars by someone purporting to be from Publishers Clearinghouse. Police say the calls originate in the state of New York but request that recipients contact a Western Union telephone number based in Jamaica.

Publisher's Clearinghouse tells Palmyra Police that anyone who receives a prize over $10,000 will receive a visit from a company official. If you receive one of these calls contact Publishers Clearinghouse Fraud Department at 1-800-392-4190.
