Probation in Newcomb Hotel Fire Case

The man allegedly responsible for causing the fire that destroyed the Newcomb Hotel was sentenced Thursday morning.

25-year-old Mathew Clark pleaded guilty to one count of burglary in February and was sentenced to 48 months probation by Judge Scott Walden.

Clark was accused of accidentally starting the fire while looking for scrap metal in the vacant hotel.

Clark was also directed to pay nearly a half-million dollars restitution to the City of Quincy.
