The preliminary hearings in the conspiracy case of the father and stepmother of Steson Crider were continued Tuesday.

42 year old Stefan Crider, Jr. asked for the continuance because he hopes to hire private counsel in the case. He and 40 year old Julia Crider are currently being represented by public defenders.

The Criders face four counts of conspiracy to commit obstruction of justice. They are alleged to have provided a vehicle to Steson Crider so he could leave the state after the shooting death of 12 year old Ray Humphrey, Jr. in Quincy in March of 2015.

Steson Crider was found guilty of first degree murder in October and sentenced to 65 years in prison.

Similar obstruction charges against Stefan Jr. and Julia Crider had been dropped in August of 2015, but were refiled after Steson Crider’s murder trial.

Stefan Crider III also faces obstruction charges in connection with the murder.
