Which presidential candidate would a modern day Mark Twain support?  One vendor at Hannibal’s Twain on Main Festival has an answer...Johnny Ray Moore of St. Louis says Twain would likely vote for Trump.  Moore was featuring an array of political buttons, caps, t-shirts, and Trump flags for sale at the event going on through Sunday in the historical area of downtown Hannibal.

Moore’s business strategy evolved based on customer input.  He started with only Trump campaign items, but broadened his assortment after receiving other requests. He now sells “Bernie” and “Hilary” items as well, although Moore says Trump still garners the most interest.

Moore says he personally supports Donald Trump.  He has attended Trump rallies in multiple locations throughout the Midwest.  He says he has not seen any of the violent protests mentioned by the media.

However, some might say this day in Hannibal, Mr. Trump was overshadowed by a man very outspoken on the perils of politics.  The theme of this year’s festival in Twain’s boyhood home centers around three of his books—The Adventures of Tom Sawyer, Roughing It, and The Prince and the Pauper.

Much of the arts, crafts, food, music, and entertainment hearken back to the iconic author’s era.  The Twain on Main Festival continues Sunday in the downtown area from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.
