Authorities in suburban Kansas City are investigating after police found a woman dead in a vehicle after two men fled from a traffic stop.

The Kansas City Star reports that a Lee's Summit police officer tried to stop a vehicle for suspicion of drunken driving early Sunday when two men ran from the car.

The officer lost sight of the men who fled, but found the woman's body in the passenger seat of the abandoned vehicle.

Police did not release the identity of the woman but say she was in her 40s.

Police have searched the area using canine teams and are also asking for help from the public in locating the two men.
