Two teenagers have been charged with first-degree murder, armed criminal action and tampering with evidence in the stabbing death of a 43-year-old suburban Kansas City woman.

A spokeswoman for Jackson County Circuit Court said Wednesday a hearing will determine whether the Lee's Summit teens, 13 and 14 years old, should stand trial as adults.

They are accused of killing Tanya Chamberlain of Lee's Summit. A police officer found her body in the front seat of a car he had pulled over on suspicion of driving while intoxicated at 1:15 a.m. Sunday.

Two males fled after the driver pulled into an apartment complex parking lot. The officer chased them briefly before returning to the car and finding Chamberlain's body.

The suspects are being held in the Jackson County Juvenile Detention Center.
